Linguistics Doctoral Student Wins NSF Dissertation Improvement Grant
Niamh Kelly's Dissertation Focuses on Tonal Accent in Norwegian

Niamh Kelly has been awarded an NSF Doctoral Dissertation Improvement Grant for $13,028 to support her dissertation on the "Production and Perception of F0: An Experimental Analysis of Norwegian Tonal Accent." Her dissertation will examine the interaction among lexical, sentence-level and pragmatic factors in determining pitch variation in the Trøndelag variety of Norwegian; this is the variety from the region around the city of Trondheim.
