Doctoral Student Recognized for Research on Tseltal
Jaime Pérez González Wins Prize for Master's Thesis

The Mexican National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH) has awarded its 2013 Wigberto Jiménez Moreno Prize for the best master's thesis in linguistics to Jaime Pérez González. Jaime wrote his thesis entitled "Predicados expresivos e ideófonos en tseltal" ["Expressive Predicates and Ideophones in Tseltal"] at CIESAS (Mexico City). CIESAS is an important graduate school in anthropology and related fields. Jaime has now joined the doctoral program in linguistics here at UT. He continues his research on Tseltal, which is a Mayan language spoken in Chiapas.
