Calendar and Listservs
MES Alumni This is a listserv for alumni to post announcements of various kinds: job postings, information about social gatherings, academic discussions and presentations, looking for other alumni, moving sales, etc. Subscriptions are available as email, daily digest, special notices, or no email (read messages on the webpage). You can subscribe and set your preferences online.
Middle Eastern Studies Listserv This is the general listserv for upcoming events and announcements from the Middle Eastern Studies program. This mailing list is used to announce upcoming events, conferences, workshops, and film screenings. During the academic year, announcements are condensed into a weekly eBulletin, which is sent every Monday morning.
Subscriptions are available as email, daily digest, special notices, or no email (read messages on the webpage).
You can subscribe and set your listserv preferences online.
Contact with MES Faculty
Faculty who receive MES funding for conference or research travel are encouraged to contact MES alumni in the area of their destination. The Alumni Outreach Coordinators will find out when and to where faculty will be traveling and attempt to get in touch with alumni in that area. If you would like to be informed when faculty members are in your area, please contact the Alumni Outreach Coordinators.
Job Talk Panels
The Middle Eastern Studies Graduate Students Association (MESGSA) is interested in initiating contact with MES alumni like you in order to learn about life after MES. One way we are pursuing contacts is through requests for job talks. If you are interested in participating, please contact the Student Alumni Outreach Coordinator.
Mentoring Program
The Middle Eastern Studies Graduate Students Association (MESGSA) is pursuing contacts with alumni by requesting mentors for current MES graduate students. The mentoring program is completely new. It has been started with the goal of helping students to benefit from the wisdom of people who have graduated from the MES programs. Students who would like to participate in the mentoring program are paired with members of the alumni community who share their interests and have experience in their intended career field. After that, mentors and students determine the course of their own mentoring relationship. Mentors and students can communicate regularly via e-mail or phone calls, or can meet at the mentor's home or somewhere in town. Mentors might offer advice, share their experiences, or merely serve as a sounding board for students thinking about various career options. If you are interested in participating in this program, please contact the Alumni Outreach Coordinators.
