Giving to MES
Graduates from The University of Texas’ Middle Eastern Studies programs have pursued careers in government, taken positions in top universities around the world, and have committed themselves to training the next generation of Middle East specialists. They have become diplomats, professors, business executives, and in one case, the director of the CIA. We work to create innovative programs that prepare students for the next best step in their studies and in their lives. Your support helps us continue this tradition of excellence.
To illustrate the impact your gift can make:
- $500 can help send a graduate student to a conference to present research and connect with scholars in their field.
- $750 can fund an outreach workshop for 40 K-12 educators that will help them expand their knowledge of the Middle East and its cultures and counter commonly held stereotypes.
- Here are a few priority giving areas:
Funds to expand our languages and course offerings to Black and Hispanic minority serving institutions. These gifts will help enact programs on their campuses.
Our Turkish and Hebrew programs need more support so that we can offer more courses and activites.
We would like to offer more summer and online language programs that are in high demand.
I invite you to submit your year-end gift by Dec. 31. With your help, our department will continue to carry out its mission of training students who have specialized knowledge and broad understanding of the Middle East. Your gift will help us produce leaders and critical thinkers who make a difference in the world.
