The course, which builds upon ARA 506 and 507, enhances the students reading, conversation and comprehension skills, while expanding their vocabulary and knowledge of Modern Standard Arabic grammar. Emphasis is placed on oral discourse and individual/group communicative skills, and audio-visual materials are used to supplement instruction. Students are provided with practice in the use of a Arabiv dictionary, and, toward the end of the course, are expected to read selections in simplified Arabic which include newspaper articles, poetry and prose.
