Course Description
A comparative study of the ways in which Jewish and Christian artists depicted Biblical narrative in the Penateuch from Late Roman/Byzantine times until the end of the sixteenth century. Our primary focus will be on the narratives in the books of Genesis (e.g the Adam and Eve cycle) and Exodus (the Bondage and Exodus), as dfepicted in mosaics, wall paintings, easel paitings, stone carvings and illustrated mansuscripts from western Europe and the Middle East.
Grading Policy
3 exams: 1. 30%, 2.; 45%; 3. 25%
