Brief Narrative of the CourseThis is an introductory course which covers several issues concerning society and culture in Israel today. It consists of lectures, discussions, and video programs. To satisfy the substantial writing requirement, students need to write three papers for the course. Two tests and an oral presentation are also required.Main Topics: " historical introduction " immigration " social integration " minorities " the political system " religious issues " education " the kibbutz " language and literature " the media

Midterm: 20% Final: 30% Papers: 30% Oral book report: 10% Class participation: 10%
