TUR 412K • SECOND-YEAR TURKISH I
1:00 PM-3:00 PM
The objective of this course is to improve students' proficiency in listening, speaking, reading and writing in modern Turkish. Improvement of the four language skills and learning more about Turkish culture depends increasingly on students' own efforts of doing library research, reading Turkish newspapers, periodicals, meeting native speakers in campus, and finally of using Turkish electronic network. By the end of the semester students should reach at least intermediate-Mid level (Turkish Proficiency Guidelines) in four basic language skills. For example, students should be able to handle a variety of communicative tasks and social situations, talk about self and family members, ask questions about topics beyond the most immediate needs, understand in printed form simple discourse for informative or social purposes and be able to write short paragraphs or take simple notes on familiar topics.
Every week students have to speak Turkish (30 minutes) with Özgür Erciyes_. Please make arrangements directly with Ozgür: firstname.lastname@example.org 10% Class attendance and participation 20% Speaking during the semester with Ö.
