Course Description
This seminar provides an introduction to the field of Teaching Arabic as a Foreign Language (TAFL) and explores some of the principal concepts connected to the teaching and learning of Arabic. We will explore issues such as lesson-planning and classroom management, syllabus design, teaching methodology, learning strategies, proficiency-oriented instruction, teaching the various skills, assessment, etc., as they relate to Arabic. Class discussions and activities will be supplemented by observations of actual UT Arabic classes and micro-teaching.. Seminar discussion is conducted entirely in Arabic, with readings and writings in both Arabic and English.
