Course Description
Graduate standing required. Course number may be repeated for credit when the topics vary. This course examines in detail and in depth the syntax of Palestinian Arabic. We will look at the internal structure of maximal categories such as Noun Phrases, Verb Phrases and Positional Phrases. We will address issues pertaining to anaphora, movement, pronominal co-reference, argument positions and adjuncts. A demonstratable advanced knowledge of any variety of Arabic is required. A minimum of Advanced Mid on the OPI scale is expected.
Grading Policy
A research paper in Arabic at the end of the semester.
