The course is designed to explore how Jewish and Christian artists from the Roman period to the Renaissance depicted slected narrative motifs in the book of Genesis for illustration. The course is interdisciplinary since in the course of the study we will examine Jewish and Chrisitan literature and theology to determine how to account for the distinct ways in which artists of each community illustrated the biblical narratives.
