New Arabic Literature

This event will be followed by a reading in Arabic from Samuel Shimon’s novel.
Samuel Shimon is editor of the London-based magazine of new Arabic writing in translation, Banipal, and of Kikah, an online magazine of Arabic literature and culture. He is the author of An Iraqi in Paris (2005), an autobiographical novel, and editor of Beirut 39: New Writing from the Arab World (2010), an anthology by the new generation of Arab writers. In his talk he will discuss new Arabic literature’s trends and markets, authors and publishers, translations and festivals.
This event will be followed by a reading in Arabic from Samuel Shimon’s novel.
