Arabic Flagship Program
The Arabic Flagship Program (AFP) at The University of Texas at Austin offers a five year training program in Arabic language and culture for undergraduates and incoming freshman. Our Scholars receive the resources and training to reach superior level Arabic, ILR 3/3+, while pursuing an undergraduate major of their choice.
Scholars join the AFP after enrolling in Arabic, during which they develop a passion for the language. However, we accept students into the program with any level of Arabic. A typical UT AFP Scholar is a student with a GPA of 3.5 or above, who has taken Arabic for two semesters and excelled. S/he is committed to the language and has career goals that can not be truly fulfilled without expertise in the language. Current Scholars have career goals that include planning to work for the government, in international business, education, international aid and advertising.
