MES, AFP and CASA offices will close August 12-16 for move to Calhoun Hall
Posted: July 23, 2013
If you've visited the fifth and sixth floors of the West Mall Building recently, you've probably seen lots of packing crates and bubble wrap. The Center and Department of Middle Eastern Studies, the Arabic Flagship Program, and the Center for Arabic Study Abroad are moving to Calhoun Hall (in "the six pack" along the South Mall) the week of August 12. All faculty, staff, TAs and AIs currently housed in the West Mall Building will be affected.
Our new office space will feature ample offices for staff and faculty, a new (larger) reading room for the MES community to utilize; a seminar room; an administrative suite; an advising suite; and designated office spaces for TAs and AIs.
But first, we're closing for a week ...
Due to the disruption required by the physical move, the Department, Center, AFP, and CASA offices will be closed the week of August 12-16, and will reopen to the public at 8 am on Monday, August 19. If you have urgent business, please visit us before or after the move, as most faculty and staff will be unreachable that week.
When we reopen afterward ...
Our new administrative offices will be located on the fifth floor of Calhoun, in CAL 528. Staff offices will be on the fifth floor of Calhoun Hall, and faculty offices will be on the fourth and fifth floors (temporary directories will be posted near stairwells and the elevator on the fourth and fifth floors).
After the move, no MES / AFP / CASA personnel will remain in the West Mall Building. Faculty not currently housed in the West Mall Building are unaffected by the move--please check the online directory for updated information.
Our offices will be closed to the public the week of August 12-16. Phone extensions will not be operational that week.
We will open for business in our new location at 8 am on Monday, August 19.
Administrative offices will be located in Calhoun Hall 528; student advising will be in CAL 512 and 514.
New faculty and staff office locations are already posted on our web site. Printed directories will be posted adjacent to the stairwell and elevator on the fourth and fifth floors of Calhoun Hall.
