Tutors & Translators

Translation Services

The Middle Eastern Studies program does not offer formal translation services, however, a number of students are available and willing to provide translation and tutorial services on an informal basis.

Members of the publc who are in need of translation services for which a certified translator is needed, such as: oral or written translation of legal documents or testimony; translation of transcripts for admission to a two- or four-year university (including the University of Texas), simultaneous translation, etc., may wish to consult the Web site of the Austin Area Translators and Interpreters Association. MES does not maintain a list of recommended certified translators.

Organizations that have volunteer opportunities for students and others to act as translators on an ad hoc basis are welcome to send a written announcement that can be posted in the student lounge, advising offices, and common areas. Announcements should be sent to dmes@uts.cc.utexas.edu.

Rates are to be discussed between you and the person you contact. There is no "going rate," nor can any rate be suggested by the Department. Some individuals may be unreachable at times during the summer due to travel.
