Degree Plan for Arabic Studies

Below are the degree requirements based on the most recent issue of the Undergraduate Catalog. Students should speak with the undergraduate adviser to determine catalog eligibility.

Foreign Language Requirement

Arabic majors must complete the College of Liberal Arts foreign language requirement in Arabic.

Arabic Major Requirements

26 hours of upper-division Arabic, including 18 in-residence:

  1. Arabic 420K Third-Year Arabic I and Arabic 420L Third-Year Arabic II
  2. Arabic 330K Fourth-Year Arabic I and Arabic 330L Fourth-Year Arabic II
  3. 6 hours of Arabic literature and culture chosen from Arabic 322 Introduction to Arabic Literature, Arabic 360K Arabic Literature in Translation, and Arabic 360L Topics in Arabic Language, Literature, and Culture.
  4. 6 additional hours of upper-division Arabic.

Arabic Minor Requirements

12 hours in one field of study, including 6 upper-division hours and 6 in-residence hours.
