UT Midshipman's Foundation

Vision
Always active and aggressive with their support for the midshipmen currently in the program, is the scholarship arm of the Alumni. The University of Texas Midshipman's Foundation is a Texas charitable corporation with 501(c)(3) status. The Midshipman's Foundation aims to award $50,000 in scholarships annually to the University of Texas NROTC.
Mission
Organized in 1970 by UT NROTC Alumni, the Midshipman's Foundation currently focuses on financial aid to battalion members by annually awarding significant scholarships to nominated candidates.
Support
The Midshipman's Foundation provides support to the Midshipman Battalion in the form of scholarships, awards, and leadership guidance. Among the awards presented annually are:
- (1) Admiral David Glasgow Farragut, USN Scholarship ($2000)
- (2) Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz, USN Scholarships ($2000)
- (2) Fleet Admiral Ernest J. King, USN Scholarships ($2000)
- (1) Crawford and Hattie Jackson Foundation Scholarship ($2000)
- (1) Kenneth J. and Marjorie A. Moore Scholarship ($1000)
- (1) H. Malcom McDonald Scholarship ($1000)
- (1) LtGen. D'Wayne Gray/MG Fred Haynes and Class of 1952 Scholarship ($1000)
- (1) 1st LT. James A. Burns, USMC Scholarship ($1000)
- (2) or more UT NROTC Alumni Foundation Scholarships ($1000)
- (1) LtGen D'Wayne Gray, USMC Sword (Marine)
- (1) RADM John H. Alvis, USN Sword (Navy Aviation)
Please note: you can not apply for the Alumni Foundation scholarships; recipients are nominated by the Professor of Naval Science.
Minimum eligibility requirements include:
- Financial need
- Officer potential
- Minimum military aptitude of 3.2
- Semester GPA of at least 3.0 in a particular academic discipline
