Zimmerman Recon Challenge
The Zimmerman Recon Challenge is named in honor of Marine SSgt
Christopher Michael Zimmerman of Stephenville, Texas. A member of the
2nd Reconnaissance Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, 2nd Marine
Expeditionary Force. SSgt Zimmerman died September 20, 2006 while
conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Anbar Province,
Iraq.
The event is open to both NROTC Members and civilians alike and can be conducted individually or in teams of four. It is a opportunity for the NROTC Battalion to interact with the community and honor a fallen Marine. The annual event is highly anticipated and has had an increase in turn out, each year, since it began in 2007.
