Leatherneck Platoon
Austin, TX: The University of Texas, Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (UT NROTC), Leatherneck Platoon welcomes three Navy members into the ranks.
The Leatherneck Platoon is comprised of active duty Marines and Midshipmen on a Marine Corps Scholarship; however, considering the leadership classes and vigorous physical training schedule, they have always been able to gain the attention of the Navy members of the battalion to join the ranks. Members of the Leatherneck Platoon are generally seeking a commission into the United States Marine Corps; however, some join the platoon for the leadership and physical challenge.
This semester the Leatherneck Platoon welcomes Officer Candidate (OC) Nubia Betancourt, MIDN 3/C Marissa Sciore and MIDN 3/C Aaron Tallant. OC Betancourt is currently an active duty Navy member who is seeking a commission in the United States Marine Corps. MIDN 3/C Sciore recently filed her package to transfer from a Navy to a Marine Option scholarship.
Congratulations to MIDN 3/C Tallant for receiving his scholarship approval as a Marine Option. He was successful in transferring his request to eventually commission as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Marine Corps.
