Survey of research on the process of reading. We will concentrate on cognitive and neuropsychological research that is the basis of current psychological theories of the reading process. Both normal reading and dyslexia, acquired and developmental, will be discussed extensively. The course will focus on theoretical and research-based information about reading from scientific psychology rather than classroom techniques and educational policy.
There will be 4 hour-long tests, each counting 22.5% of your final grade. These will be a mixture of multiple-choice and bref answer questions. There will be ocasional quizzes, averaging approximately one per weerk. All together, the quizzes will be 10% of your final grade.
