PSY 301 • Intro to Psychology-HNRS-W

Course Description

This course covers the scope of psychology as a science. Topics include: human development, biological aspects of psychology, motivation and emotion, sensation and perception, learning and memory, thought and language, intelligence, personality, psychological disorders, stress and health, and social behavior. In addition to class lectures, students will learn about psychology through several first-hand experiences. Students will write a paper based on scientific sources and conduct a case study on a topic of their choice in psychology. Students will also visit an active psychology laboratory and learn about the conceptual and practical issues involved in conducting psychological research.

Grading Policy

4 tests (multiple choice) 40%; 1 final exam (essay) 20%; 2 papers 40%; -Literature review (5 pages); -Case study (5 pages).
