PSY f352 • Abnormal Psychology

Course Description

A survey of the major diagnostic categories of the mental disorders. The course will focus on different theoretical orientations including, psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, humanistic, ethnopsychology, feminist, Native American Indian, and Eastern and on how these orientations are related to diagnosis, treatment and research. Contributions and orientations of the different helping professions will also be discussed. Case histories including all age-groups, socio-economic classes and cultures as well as people with physical challenges and different sexual orientations will be presented.

Grading Policy

Two exams: one midterm and a final, with multiple choice, matching, and short answer essay questions.
