Course Description
This course will cover physical, social and cognitive development from conception to early adolescence. Prominent theories of child development and research methods used in developmental psychology will be reviewed. Specific topics include: language development, aggression, attachment, parenting, and the contextual influences that affect all levels of development.
Grading Policy
Grades will be based on four exams, brief written assignments, and class participation. Exams will cover material from lecture, text, films and handouts and will include multiple choice, short answer, and essay questions. The written assignments are response papers intended to link class readings to students' own experiences. Class participation includes attendance and in-class activities.
