Course Description
This class will be a research seminar. This seminar is an introduction to multicultural approaches to personality assessment and counseling psychotherapy. Issues and processes related to multicultural development in American society will be reviewed. Different theories and intervention approaches will be critically examined vis-a-vis degree of match or mismatch to the value systems and worldviews of peoples who perceive themselves as "different" and/or disenfranchised. A cognitive styles-cross-cultural model of assessment and psychotherapy will be presented.
