The evolutionary origins of optimism

Our inbuilt optimistic bias is associated with better health and well-being, as well as longevity. It also affects human mating strategies. The "error management theory" developed by Drs. David Buss (UT-Austin) and Martie Haselton (UCLA) explains why men seem to overestimate their appeal to women, and why this is important from an evolutionary perspective.
