INTERNAL TRANSFER INFORMATION SESSIONS:

PLEASE NOTE:  Attending an internal transfer information session is required to be eligible for admission to the Psychology major.  The intent of these sessions is to enhance your understanding of psychology as a major at UT and therefore help you determine id psychology is the right major for you.

Dates and Times for Info Sessions for Spring 2015 admission to the major will be posted here in September 2014.

SELECTION OF PSYCHOLOGY MAJORS

The number of students who want to major in Psychology exceeds the number who can be adequately instructed by the faculty. There are likely to be more students who will be eligible to apply to the Psychology major than can be admitted, so meeting the minimum hour and GPA requirements is not a guarantee of admission to the Psychology major. A number of criteria will be used to determine which applicants will be admitted to the major. The primary criteria will be overall GPA and hours taken at UT-Austin. Other factors that will be considered include the number of Psychology courses taken, and other evidence of long-term interest in Psychology (e.g., participation in laboratory research, work in health or human services, etc.).
