On February 2, 2012, from 12:30-1:30, Lester Faigley will give a Blanton Perspectives tour of the Go West! Exhibition in the Blanton Museum of Art. Faigley will discuss how visual arts shaped how Americans and people around the globe imagined the American West. The exhibition documents how differing visions of the West competed over a century, beginning with views of the West as an unspoiled Garden of Eden, then moving to scenes of Manifest Destiny, the celebration of the cowboy, and finally the industrialization and urbanization of the West.
