Associate Professor Clay Spinuzzi recently served as program chair for the Association for Computing Machinery Special Interest Group on the Design of Communication (ACM SIGDOC). SIGDOC focuses on the design of communication as it is taught, practiced, researched, and theorized in various fields: computer science, information science, information architecture, usability, communications, rhetoric, and technical communication. This year, SIGDOC was held in Seattle, where speakers addressed settings from enterprises to retirement centers; media from help systems to instant messaging to art installations; and concerns from documentation frameworks to processes to research methodologies.
