Workshop with Dr. Torkel Brekke (University of Oslo)
Thu, April 12, 2012 • 3:30 PM - 5:30 PM • Burdine Hall (BUR) 436A
Dr. Torkel Brekke is a professor of Religious Studies at the University of Oslo (Norway) who works on various South Asian religious traditions and on topics such as ethics of war and religious fundamentalism. He will discuss his brand-new book, Fundamentalism: Prophecy and Protest in an Age of Globalization (Cambridge University Press, 2012). Dr. Brekke will start the workshop with a presentation of the book's major theses, followed by responses from Professor Chad Seales and Ph.D. student Justin Doran, both from the Department of Religious Studies.
This workshop is targeted largely at graduate students and faculty, but interested undergraduates are more than welcome to participate. There will be coffee and light refreshments before the event.
