Meet the new advisor and Interim Director!

Joni Carpenter is a UT alumnus who has worked in higher education for the the past thirteen years. Prior to advising, she taught freshman composition, tutored English and writing, and worked as an instructional designer for e-curricula in distance education. She has a B.A. in English and a M. Ed. in Education from the University of Texas and previously served as an academic advisor in the Student Division of the College of Liberal Arts. Dr. Burnett comes to us from Latin American Studies where she taught for over fifteen years. Long affiliated with Religious Studies and currently an Associate Professor of history, Dr. Burnett will serve as the Interim Director for the 2006-2007 academic year. She received her Ph.D. in history from Tulane University as well as an M.A. in Latin American Studies. She has taught courses in Latin American and Central American history; her research interests include religion and society in Latin America.
