Departmental Scholarships

The Department of Religious Studies offers a number of scholarships each year to outstanding Religious Studies majors. The awards are open to all Religious Studies undergraduates of any classification – including Freshmen and Sophomores – who meet the eligibility requirements.

The purpose of these scholarships is to encourage academic excellence in the field of Religious Studies and to reward demonstrated achievement of a high level. These awards can also provide necessary funds for students to study abroad, which the department highly encourages.

Recipients of Religious Studies scholarships for the academic year 2008-2009 were:

Margaret Berry Scholarship in Religious Studies: Jillian Owens & Nouri Zarrugh
William B. and Sara G. Hilgers Endowed Scholarship in Religious Studies: Noble Kuriakose
Joe and Cherry Gray Scholarship in Religious Studies: Richard Muniz

The number and value of scholarships vary each year. Please contact the department for more information.
