Study Abroad

The Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies offers multiple oppprtunities for study abroad. Currently, our department runs programs directly in the Czech Republic and Russia- and we are launching a program in Poland soon!  In addition, the UT Study Abroad Office offers UT students the opportunity to enroll for credit in programs at many universities throughout our region, including the Moscow Linguistics University in Moscow, the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, and at Charles University in Prague, and the School for International Training in Belgrade, to name a few.

Students applying for UT Study Abroad programs may apply for travel funds through the International Education Fee Scholarship Program. Independent study opportunities in Russia, Poland, and Croatia offered through U.S. universities may also result in UT credit hours. See our program websites below for more information on study abroad opportunities by country.

Foreign Language Area Studies (FLAS) Fellowships:

Although our department does not currently offer the FLAS Fellowship, The Center for European Studies and the Center for Middle Eastern Studies both offer the FLAS and cover some regions and languages that overlap with CREEES. It is worth your while to take a look at their websites to determine if you might qualify for a FLAS from one of these centers. A list of FLAS-approved summer language programs is available here.
