Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian Program
UT Austin offers two years of Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian language instruction in conjunction with a B.A. in CREEES.
B.A. in Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies
Major Requirements
This program requires an introductory interdisciplinary core course and 24 semester hours of course work (of which 18 hours must be upper division) selected from a list of approved area study courses. These must include:

REE 301 -- An Introduction to the former Soviet Union and Eastern Europe

At least one course from each of the following groups:
a) Language, Literature, Culture
b) History, Economics, Government
c) Sociology, Geography, Anthropology -
In addition, students choosing to major in Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies must complete the equivalent of at least two years of Russian or an Eastern European or Eurasian language. However, three years are strongly recommended.
Minor Requirements
12 semester hours of coursework in an approved area including 6 hours of upper-division coursework. You may choose a minor from virtually any department or program in the university. The approved list of minor areas of study is available in
GRG 106. For transfer students, please remember that 6 hours must be taken in residence at UT Austin.
Study Abroad
There are a number of universities and other institutions in Bosnia, Croatia and Serbia located in various cities that offer language and culture courses at all levels. Further information is available online. There are also several summer programs in the United States offering Serbian/Croatian language instruction.
