RUS 506 • First-Year Russian I

Course Description

Learn to speak and understand Russian in the context of the new Russia!

This course, the first semester of Russian language instruction, develops functional proficiency in the four basic skills of contemporary Russian: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. No previous exposure to foreign language study is assumed. The course is video-driven, centered on a story based on the exploits of an American student and his friends in modern Moscow. Considerable attention is devoted to integrating cultural knowledge into the acquisition of grammar and vocabulary.
