This course examines the common literary fund of the Slavs in the 9th and 10th centuries. The language will be studied in the process of reading biblical passages, first those with notes to grammatical points explained in the textbook. Towards the end of the course non-biblical texts will be introduced, including the Life of Good King Vaclav.
Grading will be based on class participation throughout the semester, a midterm practice exam, and a final exam. The final exam will be divided between New Testament passages examined in class and a non-biblical Christian legend (glossary provided).
