Course Description

This course serves as a continuation of the introductory course in the primary languages spoken throughout the former Yugoslavia. This course completes the study of grammar needed for basic conversation. The student will also focus on a variety of readings in Croatian, Serbian and Bosnian. Language forms used in the media and literature will be introduced, enabling the student to read and understand present day media of the region. Conversational practice time will increase and reading and writing fluency levels will be raised. The hope is that students will continue to study the language of their choice in the summer and take second year Serbian/Croatian to further increase their language skills.
