New Faculty Colloquium - From Mummies to Gypsies in Middlemarch: the English Heroine, the British Empire, and the Polish Insurrections by Tatiana Kuzmic

Wed, March 10, 2010 • 2:45 PM - 6:00 PM • GAR 2.112

Description: Tatiana Kuzmic, assistant professor in the Department of Slavic and Eurasian Studies, will give a talk as part of the Center for Women's and Gender Studies New Faculty Colloquium series. Among her unhappily married fictional peers -- such as Emma Bovary and Anna Karenina -- Dorothea Brooke of "Middlemarch" stands out as a heroine who not only survives the end of the novel, but gets to enjoy a happy second marriage.
