"Books and their Covers: A Design Strategy for Free-Market Electives"
Even a great course idea may never make it to the classroom if it doesn't get high enough enrollment. How can new area specialists carve out a place for themselves in a free market economy of course options when our course descriptions and posters may never get more than a cursory glance outside our home departments? The reality is that our courses are judged by their "covers" but this doesn't have to be a disadvantage. In his talk, Jason will share one model for addressing the questions: "What can I teach?" "How do I fill a classroom?" and "How do I create a course that produces measurable data demonstrating that my students are learning?"
