“Notes from the Heart & Soul of Polish Music,” a holiday concert featuring works by prominent Polish composers Fryderyk Chopin and Ignacy Jan Paderewski, will be performed by UT doctoral graduate and pianist Michael Schneider.
Critics have hailed Michael Schneider as a “performer with great panache” in performances across the states and abroad in Poland and France. He has won multiple awards throughout the US, performed at the Library of Congress, the International Chopin Festival in France, and at Carnegie Hall, where he won the prize for the best performance of a work by an American composer. More information can be found online at http://www.austinpolishsociety.org/new/.
The holiday concert serves as a fundraising event for the new UT Polish Studies Endowment, a permanent fund dedicated to keeping the study of Polish language and culture alive and well at UT. The endowment is housed in the Department of Slavic and Eurasian Studies. The concert is being generously sponsored by the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in L.A.
See a Letter from Mary Neuburger, Chair of the Department of Slavic and Eurasian Studies to find out more about the current status of the endowment. If you CAN NOT attend the concert but would like to donate, please visit the donation page for the UT Polish Studies Endowment.
