About Outreach
The Outreach Program works to enhance knowledge and understanding of Russia, Eastern Europe, and Eurasia and their component cultures in K-12 and postsecondary schools, businesses, civic and nonprofit organizations, the media, and the general public. The Center for Russian, Eastern European, and Eurasian Studies at the University of Texas at Austin has been involved in outreach work to schools, colleges, community groups, business, and the media since the early 1980s.
As an active member of Hemispheres, the International Area Studies Outreach Consortium
in the College of Liberal Arts our program participates in the coordination of outreach efforts nationwide. Center faculty, staff, graduate students, and community organization members assist with our activities, through which we aim to improve the understanding of Russia, Eastern Europe, and Eurasia.
Allegra Azulay, Outreach Coordinator. As outreach coordinator, Allegra supervises the Center's outreach effort, including the acquisition of new materials and the supervision of the lending and resource room libraries. She is a frequent guest speaker in schools throughout the Austin area, and arranges for speaker presentations through the Center's speakers bureau.
She can be reached by e-mail at aazulay@mail.utexas.edu, or by phone at (512) 471-7782.
Speakers
The Department of Slavic and Eurasian Studies along with the Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies brings in numerous speakers throughout the year. These speakers are experts in their fields and allow our department to offer a wide array of topics to the public.
Speeches will be available for web view within the next few months.
Speakers Bureau
The Center for Russian, East European, and Eurasian Studies maintains a speakers bureau of staff, graduate students, and faculty. The program is designed to meet increasing interest in teaching young people about the area and also to share the wealth of resources available at the Center.
For more information on this program, or to volunteer as a speaker, please contact the Outreach Coordinator.
