Scholarships | Funding

Types of Funding CREEES Offers:

  • Foreign Language Area Studies (FLAS) ScholarshipsSummer and Academic Year stipends
    Applications open in November and close in February
  • Professional Development Award: For professional development activities or research related to the CREEES region (maximum award of $1,250)*
    Please apply at least one month in advance of proposed activity
  • Czech Studies Award: For research, study or professional development in the Czech Republic (maximum award of $5,000)*
    Please apply at least one month in advance of proposed activity
  • Polish Studies Award: For research, study or professional development in Poland (maximum award amount of $5,000)*
    Please apply at least one month in advance of proposed activity
  • Romanian Studies Award: For research, study, or professional development related to Romania (maximum award amount of $1.500)*
    Please apply at least one month in advance of proposed activity
  • McWilliams Scholarship: For research, study or professional development related to Russia/the former Soviet Union (maximum award of $1,500)*
    Please apply at least one month in advance of proposed activity
  • Truitt Fellowship: For incoming and continuing CREEES MA students
  • ASEEES Graduate Student Essay Competitionfor continuing CREEES MA students

*Requires 250 word statement outlining objectives and activities relating to language or area studies.

Texas Exes Scholarships for Grad Students

Texas Exes scholarship staff have a whole host of scholarships including need-based and merit-based scholarships, specifically for graduate students. We encourage all students to apply. Please note that funding for these scholarships vary year to year.

The scholarship application is available at texasexes.academicworks.com. To apply, students should complete the Current UT Graduate Application, which will automatically match them to all Texas Exes scholarships for which they are qualified. Once students have submitted this portion of the application, they will then have the option to apply to any of our other scholarships that have additional requirements or qualifications. Current graduate students have until March 1 at 11:59 pm CST to submit their application for Texas Exes scholarships.

UT College of Liberal Arts (COLA) Scholarships

  • Various awards are available for continuing graduate and undergraduate students
  • Awards are administered by the COLA Dean's office; awards are for a semester, year, or summer
  • A variety of awards for various purposes, awarded based on both financial need & merit
  • Check back regularly, as it is updated by the Dean's office and new awards are posted all the time
