Honors Programs in the Department of Slavic and Eurasian Studies

Majors who are candidates for special honors in Russian Language and Culture or Czech Language and Culture should apply to the Undergraduate and Honors Advisor Dr. Bella Jordan for admission to the honors program during the first semester of their third year; they must apply no later than the beginning of their fourth year.  The honors application is available with other Undergraduate Student Forms.

A University grade point average of at least 3.00 and a grade point average in Russian or Czech of at least 3.50 are required for admission.

The requirements for graduation with special honors are:

  1. Russian 679HA or Czech 679HA Honors Tutorial Course with a grade of at least B
  2. Russian 679HB or Czech 679HB Honors Tutorial Course with at least a grade of B, in which an honors paper judged "acceptable for Honors in Russian Language and Culture or Czech Language and Culture" is written
  3. A University grade point average of at least 3.00 and a grade point average in Russian or Czech of at least 3.50
  4. Completion at the University of at least sixty semester hours of course work counted toward the degree.
