Course Description
An introduction to the study of the causes of violence, nonviolence, conflict resolution and management, and the development of peaceful institutions and cultures. This new academic field includes, but is not limited to the scholarly analysis of ways to reduce violence in conflict from interpersonal to international relationships and means for cultivating a culture of peace that includes not only the politics of conflict and techniques of conflict resolution, mediation and negotiation, but also the role of music, the arts, social movements, and education, in creating a more peaceful environment.
