SOC 321K • Chicana/Latina Sexualities
3:00 PM-4:30 PM
This course examines the sexualities of women of Mexican descent (both U.S.-born and foreign born) and analyzes the experiences of women living in the Southwest region of the United States, including the U.S.-Mexico border. The course focuses on the experiences of Mexicanas and Chicanas, however, we will study their parallel experiences of sexuality with women from other U.S. Latino cultures. The course will analyze why and how Mexicanas and Chicanas experience sexuality not in isolation, but rather within specific gendered contexts including family, socioeconomics, culture, religion, and society, in general.
