Course Description
This seminar provides an overview of the sociological literature on social stratification, mobility, and inequality. A variety of topics from this field will be considered, and we will read both theoretical and empirical work. Some prior experience or familiarity with social statistics would be helpful, and some of the readings relate to economics or economic sociology. Issues pertaining to race and gender will necessarily arise when studying social inequality, but we will not focus primarily on these topics as there are other courses that do so.
