SOC 308 • Gender/Race/Class in American Society

Course Description

This course examines the interplay of gender, race, social class, and sexuality in American society. It examines gender, race, class, and sexuality as social constructions that have very real consequences for the opportunities people have and the challenges they face. It explores how these social constructions intersect to shape individual experience and to create differences and inequalities in the realms of mass media, family life, education, employment, and the criminal justice system.
