SOC 317M • Intro to Social Research COURSE CANCELLED
11:00 AM-12:00 PM
9:00 AM-11:00 AM
The purpose of this course is to teach students basic research skills. Such skills are applicable in a wide variety of settings (not just the ivory towers of academia). Specifically, students will learn 1) the basic research approaches of social scientists, 2) how to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of these approaches and 3) how to apply these methods to a research problem.
To achieve these goals this course is designed to take a "hands on" or applied approach. This means that often class time will involve your active participation. Hence it is essential that you come to class (and labs) having read the assigned material.
Number of Exams: 3
I take attendance and excessive absences will result in a reduced course grade.
