Course Description
This research intensive seminar covers classic and contemporary literature related to demographic patterns of human mortality. The course focuses on both covering the most relevant literature on the topic, as well as on analytical approaches to conducting research on human mortality patterns. Mortality differentials across social and demographic groups are emphasized. The course is highly quantitative in orientation and students will be expected to actively work with large data sets.
Grading Policy
An empirical research paper will account for 75% of the course grade. The remainder of the grade is based upon class participation and presentations.
