Megan Rivers-Moore received her PhD in sociology from the University of Cambridge. She is currently
a postdoctoral fellow at the Women and Gender Studies Institute, University of Toronto. Her research interests
include the sociology of gender and sexuality, Latin American and Caribbean studies, gender and development,
and postcolonial and transnational feminisms. She has published articles in The British Journal of Sociology (2010),
Studies in Ethnicity and Nationalism (2009) and the Journal of Latin American Cultural Studies (2007), and chapters
in several edited collections. Forthcoming work will appear in Sexualities, ACME: International Journal for Critical
Geographies, and the book Consumer Culture in Latin America. She is guest editing a special issue of the journal
Feminist Theory in 2013, on beauty, race, and feminist theory in Latin America and the Caribbean.
