Applying

The Department only accepts applications for the Fall semester. We do NOT defer admission.

The application is a TWO-STEP process: separate application materials are collected by the Graduate and International Admissions Center, and by the Department of Sociology (see below). All documents should be received by the proper destinations by December 1 , for the next academic year. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Early applications are strongly recommended.

STEP 1. The following application materials are to be submitted directly to GIAC from your institution or via the web at www.utexas.edu/student/giac. These materials include only:

***It is the applicant's responsibility to confirm with GIAC that they have received the above materials. To check the status of those documents received by GIAC, go to http://utdirect.utexas.edu/nr/appstat.html.

STEP 2. The following materials are to be submitted directly to the Department of Sociology, AT ONE TIME (IN ONE PACKAGE, INCLUDING RECOMMENDATION LETTERS), IN THE FOLLOWING ORDER:

The Department address is:
Graduate Admissions
University of Texas at Austin
Sociology
1 University Station A1700
Austin, Tx 78712-0118, USA

Please follow the instructions above very carefully. It is the applicant's responsibility to make sure everything is received on time. Sending these items anywhere other than their instructed destinations will significantly delay the review of your application and chances for admission to the Sociology graduate program. No emailed or faxed applications will be accepted. Late and/or Incomplete applications will not be considered. To check the status of those documents received by the Department of Sociology, please email evelyn.porter@austin.utexas.edu.
